Hello again dear crafters, today I have a new crochet post and is for an Easy Crochet Baby Booties Free Pattern and Tutorial.
Is spring time! And although most of us will be wearing sandals, slippers and flip flops, some mommies prefer to have a little more coverage for babies.
To help mommies, aunties, grandmas and friends crochet something simple cut adorable for any new baby in the family, I created this extremely easy crochet baby bootie pattern.
I promise is so easy as making 2 rectangles and sewing the sides! And that’s it really.
The pattern provides two size options, in newborn to 6 months old, and 6 months to 12 months old.

Can you make a video on how to do this pattern
I made a video. Is at the end of the post, or you can also find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ6d4hvz67U&t=328s
I wish everyone would make their instructions as clear as you did! I am a seasoned crocheter and a lot of the patterns I come across are not very clear
Hi Maria, thank you very much for your comment! I do try my best to make patterns that anyone can follow and it means a lot to know that they are clear and easy to understand.
Happy crocheting 🙂
MUSIC MUCH TOO LOUD, BLARING !!! AND YOU ARE WORKING MUCH, MUCH TOO FAST !!!!!! VERY DISTRACTING WITH THE LOUD, LOUD MUSIC. ELIMINATE IT ALTOGETHER, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE. THANK YOU.
Your instructions are great but one suggestion – tone down your background music it tends to drown you out. You are competing with the music.
Thanks for the feedback. I try to keep it down, but I think my software is making the music louder than just making it a soft background music. I might have to eliminate music altogether, oh well!
Love this. Will be making in these and donating them to our women’s shelter.
That’s so nice of you!! ^_^
Just tried. Love them giving to a friend, thanks for video. Had stroke and this is helping.
I am so glad doing crochet is helping! I hope you get better soon 😀
This was a fun fast project I recommend it to anyone.

Live the pattern but why is one smaller. THam the other? Help
Because babies grow, and the smaller size is for newborn to 6 months old baby, and the next one would fir babies that are 6 months old to 12 months old (1 year)
I am trying to give everyone options. That’s all
Hi Your pattern for the booties seem so easy but when I tried I got confused with the no of stiches
In the 1st size we had to do 29 stiches and then dc in the next row then I get 28 stiches Can u pls put at the end of the row how many stiches we should have as after 9 rows when I have to do the 16stiches and leave 7 stiches on either side my stiches dont add up
Hi Kala!
I just updated the pattern with stitch counts. The reason it didn’t add up is because there was a typo. Thank you very much for leaving a comment, this allowed me to find it, and now the pattern was corrected.
Hi Mary Thank you so much I did not expect such a prompt reply I am so happy and so impressed as Now I know my booties wont look lopsided!!!!
We are also making beanies Would also like easy pattern for babies beanies
You’re welcome. I try best to respond quickly and help anyone that has a question.
I also have baby hat patterns, you can find one here: https://www.craftytuts.com/basic-newborn-crochet-baby-hat-free-pattern/
It has the written pattern as well as a video tutorial to help you along the way.
Hope you find it useful 🙂
All I have in the house right now is Weight 4 yarn, can I still use this pattern?
You can, but it could end up a bit bigger. To have the same size, you can do a swatch to determine what hook is best, and so achieve the same size with a different yarn.
I don’t have an E hook, will it be too bad if I use the G hook I have? I live in a little town, and my walmart has very few crochet pieces. I’m expecting my newest niece or nephew tomorrow and trying to get started. Large feet tend to run in my family, so would it be okay to continue with the G hook or switch to the F hook, I do have an F. I think I meant to use it and got off with the G instead.
You can definitely use another hook. Just know that with that choice of hook, the bootie will run bigger than what I’m showing as a sample.
Your pattern for row 12 days skip 8 stitches but your videos says skip 6 stitches
Sorry the page wasn’t loading properly for me. I realise now you have 2 sizes! Sorry! Such cute booties and easy for work up!
Yes, the pattern is for 2 sizes, but I only made the video with one size, since the changes are mainly fewer or more stitches, and the constructions stays almost the same. 🙂
Can this be adapted for children and adults?
It sure can. Just make bigger rectangles. If you have them close, measure their feet, and add an inch or so to the final measurement and you should be ok.
Where do I go to be able to print out the pattern???? I need to print it out so I can sit in my recliner & make these Cute booties.
Sorry, I don’t have a printable version for this pattern. But after the weekend I can create a PDF so you can print it 🙂
Just leave your email and I will send you a copy, or you can check back later.
Thank you for the pattern.
I am wondering about making this smaller for preemies?
Do you think it would work if I changed the yarn to a 4ply and a 3mm or 2.75mm hook?
I’ve been asked to make some smaller booties.
Changing yarn and hook size will definitely change the size of the final bootie. I think it can work. Good luck with your project 🙂
Hi! I love your tutorial. I’m doing a project making booties for babies i work with in hospital so I’m using yarn and hooks people have. Do you know the size of the rectangles in cms or inches to use as a guide to accommodate different hooks and yarns?
Thank you!
Yes, 7 inches for newborn babies, 9 inches for 6 to 12-month-old babies.
It seems a little big, but remember that you will be folding the rectangle in half. The top rectangle just needs to be a bit smaller, since is more of a decoration, and since it’s open, it won’t really affect the fit of the booties, so you can’t go wrong if you don’t get them exactly to a certain size. Hope that was helpful.
I enjoy watching the videos I will be getting my stuffs to get her and start crocheting thanks for sharing and continue the good work that you are doing
Hi Mary Thank you so much I did not expect such a prompt reply I am so happy and so impressed as Now I know my booties wont look lopsided!!!!

Thank you so much for this pattern,I wanted to make baby booties so bad was getting frustrated with manny patterns it was very clear and easy to follow
I’m testing thidms today as I’ve never crocheted anything this small. We’re expecting a g-baby in March and I want to have a lot items for the shower. I changed the first short row to SL first 6 stitches, ch 1 and ch across to last 6 st. And then follow rest of pattern. I don’t care to end and reattach. Less ends to weave in. Thank you for this easy pattern!
Did you show how to make the row where the chain goes through for the ties or did I miss it?
