Before I start, I just want to mention that I received a borrowed e-copy of this book for reviewing purposes.
The copy is not mine to keep, as it will be erased from my library after a specific amount of time has passed, but it was enough time to go thru the book and share this review with you.
I haven’t received any compensation for this review and all opinions are my own.
Photos shared are property of the author and book publisher.
In this new collection, the author includes 30 different knitting patterns for hoods, beanies, slouches, and tams incorporating a variety of colorwork, texture, pom-poms, and cables.
Most patterns are sized for the average female head, but there are a couple that also have other sizes available. Including a very cue child hat with it’s adult version as well. This is the Mama bear and baby bear hooded cowl set, and is just an adorable project for super bulky yarn.
The great variety of knitting patterns includes a collection of modern knits, classic knits, and even fantasy inspired knits like a cute pixie hat.
Most patterns included in this book use worsted, bulky, and super-bulky weight yarn, making them super quick projects.
This book is divided in 3 sections: Introduction and how to use this book instructions, all the individual patterns, and finally a tutorial section is included. The book also provides an index of stitches used, so you can easily find the page where the tutorial for the used stitches is located.
Besides all listed, the book also includes a photo index with all 30 patterns, with each name and of course page listed.
I really love this feature, as it will make browsing for a pattern to knit quite easy, and you search can be contained in 3 pages, instead of flipping for every single page of the patterns too find what your next project will be.
The book presents a beautiful layout that makes following the patterns easy and enjoyable.
Instructions for patterns always include:
- Finished measurements
- Yarn information
- Needles and other notions needed
- A stitch pattern repeat if applicable
- And, some patterns also include charts for special stitches and color-work. (but not all of them)
Overall is a great book for any knitter that likes to knit hats and wants to have a variety of designs readily available.
Is important to notice that not all designs will be to everyone taste, as they are so wide in style. But I think it just adds a great collection so we knitters can knit what we love, and also for other people that might not love the same style as we do.
