Fair Isle is the New Black



Fair Isle has quickly became a trend and is now a favorite of many knitters.

If you have been waiting to test the water of fair isle, but are intimidated by the many color changes and complicated designs, this project is for you.

This simple, yet beautiful design will provide you the opportunity to test the fair isle technique because only two colors are used and the motif is extremely easy to recreate.

The design is also formed by many stripes rows, minimizing the color changes between rows.

Skill level: Intermediate (needs to work in rounds, and work with two colors of yarn, and k2tog decrease)

Gauge: in stockinette stitch = 24 st by 26 rows = 4 inches (10cm) after blocking
Stitches used
CO = Cast On
K = Knit
K2tog = Knit two together

Yarn: Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering (80% superwash Fine Highland wool, 20% Polyamide)

-Main color: 150, 160, 170 yards (138, 147, 156 meters)
-Contrast color: 90, 100, 110 yards (82, 92, 100 meters)

Needle: US #3 (3.25 mm) 16 in circular or DPNs

Other Materials: Yarn needle (to sew edges and weave in ends)

Sizes: Toddler, Child, Teen/Adult
To fit: 17/18 in, 19/20 in, 21/22 in circumference (43/46 cm, 48/50 cm, 53/55 cm in circumference)
Final Measurement:
Circumference: 16, 18, 20 in (40.5, 46, 51 cm)
