Textured Knitted Leg Warmers
These knitted leg warmers free knitting pattern is for anyone in the beginner level, as it only uses the knit and purl stitches.
So, if you are like me, only beginning to knit, this pattern is really easy to follow.
I love to make all kinds of accessories, and this time, I was in the mood to play with some leg warmers, as I previously already made a pair of boot cuffs. I opted to use a thick yarn to make the leg warmers really warm, they’re supposed to keep me warm after all!
Hope some of you will like it enough to make them too, and if you do, share some pictures with us! Will be so glad to see them!
And let me know if you like to see more of these free knitting patterns, so I can spend some time designing more of them.
Difficulty:
Easy
Materials:
- Yarn: worsted weight yarn
- Yardage: 200 yards (190 meters)

You could also circular needles and join in the round. But keep in mind, that doing this will alter the pattern, and you will have to knit on purl stitches rows, to maintain that plain stockinette row.

cute!!!! row 2: says to repeat row two. should that be repeat row 1??
Yes!!! Thanks for sporting the typo ^_^
How many stitches do u cast on , and if I do it in the round I guess I have to change pattern too. The purl rows would just be knit, is that correct
Cast on 40 stitches.
If you close it and work ito on rounds then yes, change purl stitches to knit.
Ribbing will still be k2, p2.
I use 3,5 needle and dubble yarn can u put in 40 stitches
How much yarn did you use? Can you say the amount in yards/metres and grams too please?
200 yards. about 180/190 meters.
I followed the pattern, even included extra rows, and the leg warmer still looks pretty small. It wouldn’t fit around my calf, and it seems rather short. I casted on 40 stitches and worked the pattern from there….not sure what I did wrong? Any pointers? I am new to this!
Hi Amanda! If the warmers came too small, it only means you knit tighter than I do, This is normal, we all knit differently. Usually you need to check your gauge, but I created this pattern when I was a newbie and didn’t know what a gauge was. So I apologize there.
But you can still modify this to make it work for you. You will need to cast on extra stitches. If the one you made is about half the size of what you need, then do 80 CO stitches. If is more than that, you can try 60 stitches. Just make it an even number and the pattern will work.
Let me know if you need further help 🙂
I followed the directions but my cuff didn’t look like the picture there weren’t the nobbs. What did I do wrong?
I found my problem! Pattern ok now I had cast on 60 stitches and didn’t adjust.
