Today I bring to you a curated list of free crochet patterns to make face masks. The need to protect ourselves is great and with a shortage of medical facemasks, we are forced to look into other options that can help us stay protected and protect our loved ones.
As a crafter, I have never shied away from DIY projects and created things from fabric, yarn, and other materials.
My first thought where to make fabric face masks, but being completely honest, I’m barely a newbie when it comes to sewing, so then crochet came to my mind because just like the cat in the hat, I know a lot about that. (*grin*)
It is important to notice that neither of these DIY masks has been tested or approved by the FDA, CCD, HHS, or any other medical authority to know if they meet the standard as a protective mask.
But the University of Cambridge has tested different household materials to discover which one was the best suited to create protective masks with. You can find the research here:
